Gas or Wood?  Which do you prefer for your fireplace?

I have a wood burning fireplace, thinking of converting to natural gas.  Which do you like better?  Which one do you think consumers looking to buy a house think is better?

I will admit wood is messy, smells bad if you don't have a good fire burning and get back puffs on windy days.  Then there is the cleanup.

On the other side, natural gas doesn't look as good as a nice wood fire.  Six of one, half a dozen of the other.  What would you do?

Turn up the volume to hear the crackling on this real wood fire.

Ken, there are no correct answers, but for ambiance and heat I prefer wood burning.  Thanks,

Ken the gas as you state is certainly more convenient, but it doesn't give the same effect of wood.
