Right now it’s 70 degrees in Charleston, SC. Steady breezes combined with mild sunshine make it a fantastic day to go to the beach, kayak, fish, or simply take a walk. Most of you will probably agree that we’ve reached the most active time of year in real estate. Our busiest months tend to be March through August – how about you?
We have seen a lot of rain showers in Charleston recently. In fact, last Thursday when I was at the Charleston Riverdogs game (our minor league baseball team), there was an hour and a half rain delay. However, these showers have not kept buyers from wanting to make appointments to see homes! Our team has 4 closings today – a record in the 10 or so years that we’ve been in the real estate business.
Spring is perhaps the best time of year to visit Charleston because of the numerous festivals and the overwhelming azalea blooms that fill our tri-county area. Charleston is known for having some of the best county parks in the Lowcountry, and at a $1 per person admission fee, this is a great, affordable option for families to take advantage of the playgrounds, intramural fields, fishing docks, picnic tables, camping sites, climbing wall, paved walking trails, and dog parks that these facilities offer. Just $4 in admission plus a bag or basket of food will give a day’s worth of entertainment to a family of four (and their dogs). Where else can you enjoy a spring day with such a range of options for so little money? Well, maybe the 3 beaches in Charleston which are open to the public – Folly Beach, Isle of Palms, and Sullivan’s Island. But know that you have to pay for parking at most of these.
Because we work mostly with home buyer relocating to the area, we get to know people from all over the country – and increasingly, from other parts of the world as well. Charleston’s mild weather year-round offers a lifestyle that is hard to resist for those who love the outdoors.
