Do You Believe? Or Should You...

B E L I E V E

I recently wrote a blog post about a local community here in Alpharetta, The Enclave at Milton Park.

I wrote it because as soon as I saw it, I fell in love. I was excited about it and wanted everyone to know about it because eventhough it sits on a major street, it is unlikely you would think it was a townhome community and highly likely that you would ride right past it. I have done it myself so many times and when I found it, I actually stumbled upon it.

BUT...

This isn't another blog about that community, it is actually a blog about believing what we are writing about the homes we list and the communities we market. Are we writing for marketing sake because it is our jobs to do so or are we really BELIEVING what we are writing? Are we really excited about them or are they products and we are doing what we need to do to fulfill our duties to our clients? I ask because of a comment I received on the post this morning. The commenter said she wanted to visit there. I was excited because I want her to. I want EVERYONE to visit. I happen to think it's a cool place.

I'm a writer. I'm more of a poet than anything. My facebook friends love my stats because they invoke thought and conversation. Someone told me yesterday I should be a blogger (this let me know I'm not doing a good job at it because she didn't know that I did blog, lol). My point here is that when we invoke emotion and thought, we keep readers engaged. Listing the facts and showing what we know is great but actually leaving a reader salivating and waiting for the next line is a good feeling and I think it actually does great things for business.

I believe SEO is great. Getting the facts out and showing the public that you know your stuff is great as well but what put the icing on the cake is actually BELIEVING and being excited about what you're marketing.

Am I alone in my thoughts? Do YOU believe? Or should you?

You've got great enthusiasm and it does shine through! You are a natural writer, unlike some of us.

So....coincidently, I just had to google Alpharetta yesterday. Someone from there just bought a place in my home town of Steamboat Springs and I was checking to make sure it was in the U.S.....

Dee, anytime we believe in what we are saying or doing, we do it better. If you really love the property you are describing, it will come through in your words.

The caption of this blog post has me suddenly hungry for peanut butter...and thinking Peter Pan, never grow up..being able to fly in tight green suit. Ouch. Being the blogger, real estate professional that is the same people your family and friends know is transparency, refreshing.

I think that it is important to infuse "you" in your posts, and that sometimes means balancing a personal post with a community oriented one.

Great post Dee! You have a great point. If your writing doesn't keep the reader interested, you could lose a potential client because of the way that the information is being presented. I'm new to blogging and am going to keep this in mind. Hmm, now where is that bookmark link. All the best to you!

I love my city and I hope you tell that by reading my posts but I also provide a lot of factual information like market reports. If that was all I was writing, there would be a problem but mixing up passion and stats can be good.
