2013 Kirkwood Spring Fling & Tour of Homes

Spring in Atlanta is my favorite time of the year, especially with the weekly line-up of Atlanta festivals and events.  In less than two weeks, one of my favorite festivals will be here -- the Kirkwood Spring Fling and Tour of Homes!

On Saturday, May 10, 2013 the Kirkwood Spring Fling will kick off in the Bessie Branham Park (in between Kirkwood Rd and Norwood Ave along Ridgedale).  The first order of business is the annual 5K fun run at 8 am and then at 10 am the festival begins.  The new addition to the festival this year is the Blue Ribbon BBQ Cook-off that is sure to please all of the Intown barbecue lovers!

So why is the Kirkwood Spring Fling one of my favorites?  I think it's the relaxed atmosphere where you can walk down the tree-lined streets, listen to some great local music, and visit all the different vendor booths at the open air market and not feel rushed or clausterphobic as you might with some of the larger festivals.  

The 2013 Historic Kirkwood Tour of Homes will take place on Saturday and Sunday and offers some fabulous homes to tour -- from Victorians to Mid-Century Modern to 1920s Craftsman Bungalows.  Tickets can be purchased at the festival or in advance from several local Kirkwood businesses.
