Great Weekend in Parkland
Last weekend was a great and very busy weekend in Parkland. As a matter of fact, the whole month of April has been packed with fun. It has been so busy, our Mayor stated last Sunday, how beat he was and he was hitting the couch.
Everybody knew the Little River Band Concert was going to be great, what we did not know, was how awesome the Tri City Classic Car Parade and Show would be.
The Parkland Historical Society hosted this event and it was a huge success. approx. 140 cars participated in the parade and show. The cars were beautiful and true classics. There were alot of smiles, indicating many guys were reliving their youth at this show.
A big thank you goes out to BSO and Coral Springs Police Department
BSO and Coral Springs PD volunteered their services to this event. The Historical Society appreciates their time and efforts. The parade/show would not have happened without them.
Parkland's Mayor Michael Udine came up with a really cute and fun way to raise money for Anthony Rizzo's Foundation. He will donate $25.00 to Anthony's foundation for every home run Anthony hits during the 2012 season. Joining the fun and following the mayor's lead, Bill Sohl and Corey Summers. As a result, the foundation will receive $52.00 every time Anthony hits a home run. If you would like to join in on the fun, feel free to contact Bill or myself at 954-856-5540.
He grew up in Parkland and played baseball for Stoneman Douglas High. Upon his graduation, he was drafted right to play professional baseball. Shortly after graduating from Douglas and early in his career he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. He won his battle against the disease. He founded the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation to benefit the University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Center and Livestrong.
