Fundraiser Scheduled for Man Who Lost Home in Banning Fire This Week©

California is having a rash of fires right now and there are a lot of people who cannot get back into their homes yet. Take some sundries to the rescue centers.

Two fundraising carwashes are scheduled and donations of assistance accepted this weekend for Summit fire victim Joe Kiener, who lost his home this week when the Summit fire swept through his Banning Bench neighborhood, fueled by fierce winds.

Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5

8:00am until all cars are washed.

Please Give- Kiener does service-related driving and picking up parts for the dealer. “He is just an all around upbeat, positive guy,” Kiener and his dog are staying with a neighbor. He lost almost everything. If you cannot make it to the carwash, bring in some clothing for Joe, sundries, food, or items for a new temporary home.  Suggestions-Gift Certificates to Target or Wal-Mart or even cash$$$. Anything will help.

*Author Comments: We heard about him losing all of his possessions except for his trusted friend, a terrier named Duke. We loaded up the car yesterday with nice slacks and knit shirts that had just been dry-cleaned and were hanging in the closet plus a bag of t-shirts, brand new briefs and dress socks. I made a doggie bag for Duke consisted of my dog’s 2 favorite toys; a teddy bear with ears chewed off with love (washed) and some dog cookies and chewy sticks.

The irony here is that we had to drive by a freeway fire in Redlands and it took us 2 hours to get there and back. But it was well worth the effort to help Joe out.
