ARE MEN AND WOMEN EQUAL...???

The debate on this question has yet to be answered to the satisfaction of EVERYONE...

Yes, our Constitution says so...at least that we were created by God as equals, and as such we were given certain inalienable rights by that same God...LIFE, LIBERTY, and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS...as equals...BUT...

I asked myself recently how is it that so many of our serial murderers, rapists, terrorists, burglars, abusers, and others seem to be almost exclusively...MEN...!!!

But then I thought of ‘suicide bombers’ in the middle east...a MIXTURE of men AND women...

AND then I thought of the 55 million women since 1973 that have aborted the babies in their wombs (or the removal of the products of conception as some refer to abortion)...

THE REALITY OF THAT hit me square in the head.......WOMEN KILLING MEN AND WOMEN...MOTHERS KILLING potential mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, grandchildren, future scientists, nurses, doctors, ministers, priests, presidents, teachers, etc...

NOW...SCIENCE is fairly conclusive that LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION...The infant in the womb shares much from its mother and father.......but.......he/she has its own distinctive DNA, blood type, heartbeat, fingerprints, and BLOOD...

We know from history that science does not hold the answers to all our social problems and dilemmas...and science really can’t answer the question posed by the title of this post...

BUT...religion CAN...JESUS ‘SO LOVED THE WORLD’, came to earth, took the form of one of us, died for the sins of all mankind...thereby proving...

GOD LOVES US ALL...!!!

HAVE A GREAT MOTHER’S DAY WEEKEND...!!!

Did you know that the United States has the highest rate of first-day deaths in babies than any other industrialized nation on the planet? Maybe we should concentrate on trying to save the babies that are actually born...

Fran, I don't know what equal is...equal skills? Equal ability to be carpenters or dress makers?

What is a cinch is that our equality is this:  We are expected to use our talents and skills to making The Whole better than it would be without us.

With respect to when life begins, when I was a student at Tulane, a group of us observed a legal abortion administered by a physician in the operating room of Charity Hospital.

I can assure anyone, anytime that what we saw that was extracted was a human life.

Men and women should be treated equal but biologically we are not equal.  Men are obviously physically bigger on average than women.  Men typically like flexing their muscles and strength to exert their ego.  Where women often flex it in a less obvious way.  We just all need to try and get along as best we can in this flawed world.

Frank: Hopefully, people will start taking abortion seriously and realize it for the evil and abomination it is...!!!

Karl: Yes, and perhaps the great number of abortions in our Country contributes to that statistic, since it has been proven that subsequent pregnancies after an abortion are often problematic...many miscarriages and failed attempts at conception...!!!

Bill: Great comment...!!! Yes, if its not HUMAN life, what is it...???

Rob: Equal Dignity for each person would be a great start...!!!

No, men and women are not 'equal' that is why there are men and women.

Most view 'equal' to mean the same or able to do the same job/work/what ever equally and we have different physical and mental makeups for a reason.

Than,

You're right...'God made them male and female'...not unisex...there is a complementary quality which society in general seems to want to ignore or deemphasize...and I'm not talking exclusively of the sex act...

The neat thing is that every loving couple has accessability to the COMPLETE GOD in whose image we are all made...!!!

Fran -- thank you for again providing a very thoughtful post on something people seem to want to take for granted -- but which, as Than pointed out, just doesn't really exist in reality.     And in response to Karl, I wonder how many of "Dr." Gosnell's "clients" contributed to that bad report?

Steven,

And Gosnell isn't an isolated case...How many more 'Gosnells' are there, and can 'pro choicers' say with a straight face that those women are being cared for in a civil humane way...!!!

Only pro lifers auithentically care about women...!!!

In the United States, babies are 50 percent more likely to die on the same day they were born than in all of the other industrialized countries combined, according to the report by Save the Children. Each year, nearly 11,300 babies die on the day they were born in the United States, making American babies twice as likely to die in their first 24 hours as European Union babies.

Abortion rates are higher in countries where the procedure is illegal and nearly half of all abortions worldwide are unsafe, with the vast majority in developing countries, a new study by Lancet concludes. Abortion rates were lowest in Western Europe and highest in Eastern Europe. The study found a link between higher abortion rates and regions with more restrictive legislation, such as in Latin America and Africa.

That significant rate of 'unsafe' abortions in those countries that restrict abortions often results in the death or significant injury to the mother. So don't tell me "pro-lifers" care about women more than "pro-choice" folks.

The main reason of course is that wherever better contraception is available, nationwide and free or at a low cost, there are, generally, less abortions.

Karl,

Respectfully, your statistics chase their own tails...!!! Many contraceptives are abortifacients, and as such do not contracept but cause spontaneous abortion.

The term 'better contraceptive' can be translated into 'killing the fetus more efficiently'...!!!

For one to be authentically 'pro choice', they must defend the choice of the living unborn baby...who more than likely will turn out to be a female...!!!

Protection of the defenseless has traditionally been a virtue of most Americans...I pray it is still true...!!!

I support and admire authentic feminism, that exalts all human beings, much in motherly fashion, but I'm afraid the culture of death is alive in many who call themselves 'pro choicers'...!!!

Thanks,   Fran

Fran, we are worse than Nazi Germany with our abortions killing babies.

Mike,

We can see, as in Nazi Germany, how large groups of people can become desensitized to good moral values and The Truth Of Christ...!!!
