I would argue that there are three types of real estate agents / Loan Originators out there, and what better way to realize this or experience this, than just taking a look around your office...
However, how about the the 80/20 Rule?
I am always intrigued by what makes top producers, the psychology behind success-- the midset and the action taken.
I am a huge fan of statistics, statistical analysis, and the Pareto Principle.  There seems to be a causal connection between success, production, results.
This is fun stuff to analyze.  It does lend credence as it seems so obvious at times.  However, as a management measuring tool, it applies and takes on a life of its own...  Things such as we wear 20% of our clothing 80% of the time.  We use 20% of our carpeting 80% of the time, etc.  
Anyway, it is just fun stuff to analyze if you are into this sort of thing.
Let me also Quote Tommy Lasorda on another observation he made.  I remember once reading that a Major League Baseball team will lead in the standings with about 2/3 of their games that they won.  The bottom of the standings will show that the team only one a third of their games.  And remember that there is the statistic out there that a ballplayer can make it into the Hall of Fame by getting on base less than a third of the time they step up to the plate, which seems like a tremendous failure rate, quite frankly.
So, don't beat yourself up if you lose that listing or lose that buyer.  Just keep "polishing the stone" and move forward.  Over the long haul, try to be in the 20% that really produces.
To the Newbies out there, Keep plugging away.  I highly doubt some great leads will be turned over to you by your broker until you have proved yourself.

The obvious one is how 20% of the people do 80% of the work, Gary. That would explain top producing agents. So for new agents, they (and we all) should strive to be in the 20%!
