AMGEN TOUR TO RIDE THROUGH THE PALM SPRINGS AREA THIS SUMMER!
Bike riders and cycling enthusiasts are common in the Coachella Valley. On any given weekend you can see the bright colored riders cruising up and down the La Quinta Cove, stopping for coffee at Old Town Coffee in Old Town La Quinta, and so on, all the way to Palm Springs and the Tram Road. The weather here in the winter is perfect for cycling and our wide avenues and sparse traffic make it ideal for cyclists.
128 riders in Amgen Tour of California are expected to make their way through the Coachella Valley on Monday some time from 2 to 3 p.m. in Palm Desert, and will make the final climb up Tramway Road about 3 to 4:30 p.m.
WHERE TO WATCH THE AMGEN TOUR PALM SPRINGS:
To watch the prestigious professional bike race spectators can gather at a number of sites along the route, which will enter Highway 111 in Palm Desert. The race then winds its way up the valley on El Paseo, Bob Hope Drive, Country Club Drive, Morningside Drive, Frank Sinatra Drive, Da Vall Drive, Dinah Shore Drive, Gene Autry Trail and then East Palm Canyon Drive, eventually entering downtown Palm Springs to the Tramway Road.
BEST VIEWING AREAS:

The shuttles will run from the off-site parking lots to the Lifestyle Festival area on the Tramway Road from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and again after the riders complete the stage at the top of Tramway Road. Shuttle service will resume as soon as the last racer is off the hill, approximately 4 p.m. All times are subject to change depending on rider speed, finish line and race details, security and space.
Pre-race Riders: Avid riders have the opportunity to ride up the Tramway Road on the morning of May 13, starting at 10 a.m. All riders must be cleared off the road by 2 p.m. Bike parking will be available near the top of the Tramway Road near the Lifestyle Festival.
