Twin Snow Leopards Born At Albuquerque Zoo 2013

Twin Snow Leopards Born At Albuquerque Zoo 2013, John mccormack, realtor, albuquerque homes realtyThat’s right Kachina a Snow Leopard at the Albuquerque Zoo gave birth to twins on May 3, 2013!  Mom and babies are doing great and will be introduced to the public in few months.  Proud Poppa Azeo is beaming with pride and available to the public at the Zoo’s Cat - Walk area.  The twins are Kachinas 6th litter making her the proud Mom of eleven cubs in total.

The Albuquerque Staff have not released at this time if the Snow Leopard cubs are  boys, girls or one of each.  Suspense!  The Zoo staff does say the babies are healthy, happy and nursing well and Mamma Kachina is doing a great job Mothering her newest cubs.

Sadly the Snow Leopard (Panthera uncia) has been classified as endangered since 1974. Threats include poaching for the illegal trade of pelts and bones for traditional Chinese medicine, degradation of habitat and the decline of prey due to overhunting.  The Albuquerque Zoo proudly holds the title of leader for breeding Snow Leopards for the past eight years!

Like Kachina and Azeo if your family is growing and you’re considering a new home give REALTOR John McCormack a call.  John is prepared to put his Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and surrounding NM real estate knowledge to work for you.  Call John directly at 505.980.4576 or

Yippie for Kachina, what an exciting birth for the Albuquerque Zoo and sad that they're on the endangered species list.

Mom Kachina is obviously a great Mom. The babies are probably too cute to have their pictures out in public yet.
