Lake Oconee area - Caterpillar plant in Athens hiring!

Once the plant is fully operational, it is expected to employ about 1400 people!  Many of these will be coming from the Lake Oconee area due to the proximity of the plant to the lake area. Caterpillar in Athens_Oconee areaThe Athens-Oconee plant will become Caterpillar's global manufacturer of small track-type tractors and mini hydraulic excavators.


Operations manager Todd Henry released  the statement  "We are right on schedule with this project, and although the building is still a work in progress, it's great to be in our new home."  The office area is complete and construction of the manufacturing space is expected to be finished by the end of the month.


 In addition, company and state officials say as many as 2,800 additional jobs could flow to Georgia and surrounding states from Caterpillar suppliers that are expected to move their operations nearby.  The Lake Oconee area is expected to reap some major benefits from these businesses and their employees!  These new businesses along with the new Good Samaritan Hospital and several "senior living communities" being built in the area, home sales in the area are expected to increase greatly.
