Connecticut State Parks are celebrating their 100th birthday this year! 100 years ago the State Park Commission was formed in Connecticut by a small group of people who wanted to ensure the preservation of the states beautiful New England landscape. On September 29, 1913 the first meeting was held in the New Haven County Court House. Now a century later we are celebrating with a year long birthday bash for our beloved parks. The official kick off to the celebration will be August 14 at 4;30 p.m. at Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill, CT. There will be a series of hikes held selected state parks throughout the summer.
