Alderson's First BridgeFest Celebration
The first Alderson BridgeFest Celebration, coordinated by Friends of the Lower Greenbrier River (FOLGR), will be held in downtown Alderson, WV, on May 18. Festivities include river activities, representatives from environmental organizations, Spring Fling hosted by the Methodist Church, food, live music, and much more!
Come on out and join in on celebrating the Greenbrier River. Paddlers are welcomed. This family fun day starts at 8:30 AM with the opening of the Alderson Community Market at the Greenbrier River Interpretive Center (GRIC).
This first BridgeFest event features a variety of events on and around the Greenbrier River.

Exhibitors will be located on the old pedestrian bridge.

Stuart’s Hot Dawgs will be selling barbecue.

A cardboard boat competition, open to all ages and groups will be held at the Alderson Mini-Park at 10 AM.

Paddlers are invited to meet at the mini-park at 1:00 PM for a fun afternoon trip down the Greenbrier.

FOLGR will provide information about the Greenbrier Geocache Trail, educational programs and water conservation at its information booth on the bridge, as well as selling shirts and hats for a donation.

The Alderson Main Street will be staffing the GRIC and introducing a new kiosk with an interactive touch-screen computer presenting history of Wolf Creek/Smith Mountain. This easy to use format will enchant computer challenged adults and be a breeze for youngsters to operate.
This fun filled event will include river activities and booths on the old bridge and around the river. BridgeFest runs from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 18... come join in the fun!

The Alderson Memorial Pedestrian Bridge, built in 1913 is on the National Register of Historic Places. The concrete arch bridge linking two counties (Greenbrier and Monroe) and one town together offers gorgeous views up and down the Greenbrier River.
