From RE Insider today:
Breaking News! Fidelity is competing directly with real estate agents for the tight inventory of available homes for sale in California.
Did you know that Fidelity National Financial, Inc. “Fidelity” owns 100% of at least one California real estate brokerage company?
We just learned that J. Rockcliff, Inc. is a Fidelity-owned company. According to their own website, they are one of the fastest growing real estate companies in California with offices in eight (8) cities and they have hundreds of agents.
How does this make you feel when one of these title companies asks you for business (be sure to ask who owns the company you are dealing with it may surprise you) and then wants to get directly into competition with you for that business?
I went to my local credit union today and low and behold they were offering rebates and discounted commission if you use their subsidiary LLC in house real estate company. Hey NAR what happened to the charter with lenders not being in the real estate business? Thanks again Mr Dodd & Mr Frank your reforms are working perfectly. The Too Big To Fail will get even bigger now.
Our job is not hard enough with the interference of every Tom Dick & Harry on the Internet telling the consumer they can do it better and cheaper while they use our listings to market their services, but now we compete for business from our own vendors.
Will we all be working for them instead of us in the end? Where are NAR and all the big brokerages now that we need them to protect our livelyhood? We have paid dues and commission splits for years to you guys time to put a stop to these practices before it's too late.
Attention Consumers when was the last time a large company gave you one on one ecxcellent customer service? When you called them did they answer your call live or did you go into a long que and menu only to be outsourced to someone far far away who read you their script and aplogized for not being able to help you with your situation. REALTORS do not have ATM's right outside their office doors, they actually respect you enough to deal with you one on one face to face. REAL ESTATE IS STILL LOCAL!
