Don't Miss the 19th Annual Railway Heritage Festival in Manassas, VA
Living in Bristow, Gainesville, Haymarket or Manassas, your daily commute or trips around town probably involve at least two glimpses a week of passing freight trains or commuter trains. As our area has grown and we have more cars on the roads, Manassas and Gainesville have had to implement traffic resconstructions to make it so passing trains won't hold up traffic. So when you think of a train, your initial thought might be aggravation.
The 19th Annual Railway Heritage Festival in Manassas is there to celebrate trains and their history. The event will be on June 1, 2013 from 10am-4pm in Old Town Manassas. The event itself is free.
If you are a model train enthusiast, there will be specialty vendors on hand and displays from local model train groups. I've accompanied my husband, a model train enthusiast himself, to an event where these model train displays were out for enjoyment of the public. It's amazing the work that goes into them.
Is a ride on a train more your speed? For the price of $5 per person, you can catch a ride from Manassas to downtown Clifton and back at the top of each hour starting at 10am and ending at 1pm. You can purchase tickets for this local June 1st train ride in advance at the Manassas Train Station located at 9431 West Street, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
No local event is complete with food and music. There will be a variety of food vendors at the Railway Heritage Fesitval, as well as live music of the country and blue glass genres.
From miniature train displays to rides on real life trains, food and live music, the 19th Annual Railway Heritage Festival in Manassas is sure to be a fun event for the whole family. If you want more information on this event, please click this link.
