Summertime In State College-Go to the Park!

If you're looking for something to do this summer, State College, PA has a ton of parks throughout town.  You're never more than a couple blocks away from a park at any time when you're living or visiting State College, PA. Fairbrook Park SignWhether it's a dog park in Tudek Park or just a stroll through the playground at Fairbrook Park there's a lot to do depending on where you go. There are over 50 parks in the Centre Region Parks and Recreation inventory.  Fairbrook ParkIn the State College Borough there are over 115 acres of municpal parkland. College Township has over 180 acres of parks, 68 acres in Harris Township, 180 acres in Ferguson Township, and 172 acres in Patton Township. Centre Region Council of Governements rounds out the Centre Region with an additional 189 acres of parkland.  All together there are over 1000 acres of public parkland just in the Centre Region alone. 

There is a wide variety of things to do in the Centre Region Parks systems.  Tudek Park has multiple dog parks for dogs of all sizes.  Circleville Park and the new airport themed Bernel Park both have disc golf courses. Fairbrook ParkMost parks ofer pavillions for rental for large group parties as well.  Also, most parks offer playground equipment as well as baseball, softball, soccer fields and tennis courts.  Tudek Park even features community garden plots that you can plant a garden if your yard is too small or isn't suitable for gardening.  Most parks are on the bus routes and have excellent parking facilities 

If you ever feel like you're out of something to do this summer, take a look at Centre Region Parks and Rec website and just pick a park.  There's sure to be something to do that's fun for the whole family. If you can't find something to do at one of these parks there's something wrong!

Always great to see folks out enjoying the local parks, whether it just be to relax, walk or playing sports like baseball, soccer and football. It's like taking time to smell the roses, you need to take the time to enjoy your local parks.
