Why I love Arizona in the Summertime..    www.angjohnon.com

Okay, so I know everyone says it's too hot here in the Summer but honestly, my family and I love it!  Unless we want to golf then... not so much.:)  However, the invention of the frog tog, a nifty towel that stays icy cold once wet, has helped with golfing in 100 degrees quite a bit.  I should preface that 100 degrees in Arizona is like 80 degrees in Illinois if that helps some of you relate.  When there's no humidity, it makes a world of difference.

I live in North Scottsdale.  What's great about our area during the Summer is half of the residents leave.  Woo hoo!!  Once they've packed up and headed north we enjoy no lines at the restaurants, special spa packages from local resorts, StayCations at awesome hotels like the Phoenician, Royal Palms, Westin at Kierland which has the wave rider, a special new ride where you can surf!  I also enjoy that our streets are less busy too because once those snowbird drivers are gone, our mini traffic jams go with them.  Even local businesses offer specials galore, it really is fantastic!

Our kids love the pool and this year their old enough to go to the waterpark too!  My girlfriend Michelle and I both bought season passes with Splash water parks so we're looking forward to tons of fun in the sun.  This past weekend we went camping at Lake Roosevelt which is just up the bee line and has absolutely spectacular views every where you look.  We are lucky enough to have a boat and a couple skis so being on the lake is something we look forward to for sure!  While snowbirds will swim in our 70 degree winter months, it's far too cold for us thinner blooded folks who have become accustomed to the hotter Summers.  My family and I like it to be 100 degrees before we venture into the pool or lake.

Both my husband and I grew up in Illinois and we both agree, Summer time in Arizona is far better then that of Illinois.  We don't have humidity, there are hardly any bugs, and the nights cool way down making Summer nights the best!  Getting back to those deals I mentioned earlier, below I've highlighted just one of my favorite examples.

Families can select the Very Important "Kids package", with rates beginning at $149.00 per night.  Plus you also get to enjoy a $100.00 credit with every two paid consecutive nights.  Do the math and it's $99 a night at the four seasons which is spectacular!  The package also includes a special snack mix turndown amenity, a complimentary in-room family movie and one poolside smoothie for up to two children per room. Sweet!

Four Seasons Resort offers a Dive-in Movie series, with movies running every Saturday throughout the summer. Other poolside activities include weekly smoothie demonstrations, organized pool games and daily passed poolside complimentary frozen treats. Complimentary weekly activities include crafts, stargazing, tequila and wine tasting, and guided hikes to Pinnacle Peak Park. Pretty awesome right?  I think so:).

Not us, we don't want the maintenance that comes with it so we opt to use our wonderfully maintained community pools instead:) Have a great week!

Angie~ I've only stayed in Arizona one time and it was in the summer and it was 100+. I was in Scottsdale for business and I was too hot! You've shared some good reasons to love Arizona in the summer, it's just not for me.
