Good news - Arkansas workers don't spend as much time getting to and from work as folks in other states. Depending upon which part of the country you come from, you may already be well aware of that. I know I am. I don’t even like to think about the time I spent commuting when I lived and worked in the Washington, DC area.
These facts were published by the U.S. Census Bureau 2011 American Community Survey.
There were only four states with commute times lower than Arkansas – Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Iowa’s population density is slightly less than Arkansas. As you can imagine, the other three states have significantly lower population densities.
As a real estate agent who helps a lot of folks relocate here to NW Arkansas, my philosophy is that if you don’t want a long commute, you don’t have to have one. There’s probably a good house just like you want closer to your work than you thought possible. Yet another benefit of life in the Natural State.
