Tired of the same old things to do when the weekend rolls around? Nothing new playing at the movies? Sick of the shopping malls? Looking for something new to do this weekend in Peoria? Here are a few suggestions...
Given that this will be Memorial Day Weekend, the start of the summer season for many people, and that we will soon be hovering in the triple digits for the next few months, it is the perfect time to focus in on ways to cool off.
Peoria Public Pools
Peoria has three outdoor heated public pools available for use by residents...the Centennial Pool, the Peoria Pool and the Sunrise Pool, all of which open to the public for the summer season this weekend. Each pool has designated open swim hours as well as early morning lap swim hours. During open swim hours, there will be one lane specified for lap swimmers only.
For Peoria residents, there is a $2.00 daily fee for residents over 17 to use the pool while children from 2 to 16 are charged a $1.00 daily fee. Individual passes can be purchased for $25.00 and family passes for up to six people (in the same household) can be purchased for $75.00. The pools can also be rented privately for parties and events.
Lake Pleasant
Peoria is also home to Lake Pleasant, the second largest lake in Arizona. Featuring boating, sailing, swimming, fishing, jet skiing, camping, water skiing, parasailing and more, Lake Pleasant is always a popular summer destination.
Visitors can enjoy kayaking out on the Lake with single and tandem kayak rentals available from Go Kayak Arizona LLC. On Friday, May 24th, Go Kayak Arizona will be hosting their two hour Moonlight Paddle Tour starting at 7 PM.
If you are looking for a less strenuous tour of the Lake, you can also book tours from Lake Pleasant Nautical Adventures. Featuring a variety of tours, including the popular sunset tour, Lake Pleasant Nautical Adventures has something everyone enjoy.
So if you are looking for something to do this weekend in Peoria, maybe one of these suggestions is what you are looking for. Check ahead with the particular event or venue for any changes in scheduling. And have a great weekend!
