Are you an inquisitive person who enjoys learning? If you’ve read my blog, you know one of the pastimes I enjoy is discovering new facts and interesting pieces of history.

I like to share intriguing stories from our local newspaper the San Jose Mercury News, as well as my favorite print and online magazines Mental Floss, the National Geographic Society or  Smithsonian Magazine. These events for today’s blog post are primarily from Wikipedia.

While these interesting items are intriguing, they have nothing to do with my real estate business, helping people like you buy and sell homes in San Jose, Cupertino and Palo Alto in Silicon Valley, Calif. These interesting items just add fun and fascination to life.

Here are today’s 12 Important Anniversaries Occurring Today, May 31. I hope you find them interesting, too.

Out of respect residents stayed inside as Lady Godiva rode through Coventry, clad only in her long hair. Reputedly one citizen, a tailor named Tom, couldn’t resist taking a look, and was struck blind for his folly. MICHELLE, I LOVE YOUR HISTORICAL POSTS. For my junior prom we built replica of Big Ben. Now I know when it started keeping time. Also, saw similar clock in Halifax, Nova Scotia last fall. The governor of the province was upset that provincials were always late so he had four sided clock built on a hill overlooking the bay. Somewhere on my computer I have pictures.

I will reblog shortly.

Mary, I would love to see a photo of that big clock in Halifax. Looking forward to that blog.
