Yellowstone National Park

Become a tourist in your own state! Wyoming is a vast resource of fabulous places to see and explore. How many times have you and your family gone out to explore in Yellowstone National Park? When was the last time you were there? Yellowstone is still a great place to visit with the family or to go out exploring on your own.

Yellowstone is far enough away from Cheyenne that you will probably want to spend a few days there. You will find more than enough to keep you busy during this time!

Here are some fun facts about Yellowstone Park:

  • Yellowstone spans three different states:  Wyoming, Idaho and Montana
  • Established in 1872 Yellowstone is the first park to be Federally Protected.
  • Animals run free in Yellowstone. Bears, elk, bison, birds and more wander unhindered through this beautiful park, and travelers can drive or walk through the park at their own will.

Visit the Official Website for Yellowstone National Park. Use the tools and quick links on their website to help you plan your getaway.

Make a stop in Shoshoni at Boysen State Park. Boysen State Park is about 1/2 way between Cheyenne and Yellowstone. You could easily spend a few days in Shoshoni. Boysen State Park offers shopping, rafting, golf, climbing and so much more. What a beautiful way to stop and stretch your legs on your journey.

We used to spend time as a family camping and touring. I would encourage you to tell the kids to leave their digital devices behind and enjoy the view. I often look back at what we used to do with the children when they were younger. It was easy to throw the tent in the car, pack a cooler and head out. I'm older now, but would still jump at the opportunity to go camping with my grandchildren and marvel at the beauties of our State.
