Sarasota Heights

A Very Special Area Of Sarasota Heights, Sarasota, FL.  Sarasota Heights is an area West of Trail in Sarasota, FL just south of downtown.  This area encompasses several historic neighborhoods like Avondale, Harbor Acres, McClellan Park and Cherokee Park, but the area in close proximity to Sarasota Memorial Hospital never received its own designation.

This eclectic mix of Sarasota Heights housing styles, from modest historical bungalows to stunning contemporary homes, offers great convenience to downtown, the hospital and the Hillview Area.  The Hillview Area commercial district offers a wonderful mix of shops, restaurants and the iconic Morton's Market, Sarasota's own gourmet grocer.

This particular area of Sarasota Heights is bounded by Bahia Vista Street on the north, Osprey Avenue on the east, Hyde Park Street on the south and Orange Avenue on the west.  Homes currently for sale in this section of Sarasota Heights are priced from $179,000 to $1,275,000 and range in square footage from 780 to 3,600.  In the last six months there have been four sales ranging from $265,000 to $1,250,000 and between 1,150 square feet to 4,584 square feet.

Other nearby amenities that draw people to this area include Southside Elementary School, Siesta Key beaches, shopping centers on Tamiami Trail and many of Sarasota's cultural attractions are a short walk or drive away.  In addition, the lush, tropical landscaping and canopy of mature trees add great appeal to this area of Sarasota Heights.  Of special interest is the original home of the Great Wallenda's, the world reknown trapeze artists, which is located in Sarasota Heights.

This part of Sarasota has been developed since the early part of the last century so there are many architectural styles from Spanish Revival and Craftsman Bungalow homes built in the 1920s to the ranch homes of the 1940s and 1950s to contemporary homes that make bold architectural statements.

If you are interested in an area close to town and want a home of distinction that doesn't fit into the mold of many  of today's newer communities be sure to check out A Very Special Area Of Sarasota Heights, Sarasota, FL.

I love all the trees around the historic homes, which were so important in the days before air conditioning.
