Atlanta Housing Market Recovery, over 19% price increase from a year ago

Real estate in Atlanta has been crazy the last six months or longer.  Atlanta inventories are low, prices are rising, and every real estate agent we know is having a great year.  So, it was not a surprise to us at all today to hear about Case Shilling's latest findings that Atlanta's Real Estate Market dramatically increased over 19% in terms of price points over a year ago.  

Tim Francis Realty was fortunate to get a call from our local ABC News affiliate, WSBTV and anchor John Bachman about this and to be on today's broadcast responding to the good news:

 

 

Tim Francis Realty is thrilled we are seeing great improvements in the Atlanta Real Estate Market.  Every market is cyclical and we knew it was just a matter of time.    

Homes are selling and leasing at higher prices than anytime in the last six years.  This is good news as we move towards a more in balance market and a recovery.

Michelle in our market we are seeing double digit value increases as well.  Once again we have to be concerned about whether this market is sustainable or not.  Time will tell.

We are excited about the good news, as we were surprised with how bad the news got over the last five years.  

Cindy, 

Yes, one major factor for us is Atlanta as a city is coming on strong with job growth in a wide variety of industries.  This helps us spread the improvements around.  Second, we've dealt with a lot of bad banks and this should help us recover as well.   Time will tell though.  I do expect us to go more in balance soon, neither seller nor buyers market - say in the next six to twelve months!
