June 21-22 will the First Annual Southpark Kickass BBQ
Competition in the quaint mining town of Fairplay. The 10,000 ft elevation guarantees a fun day trip and a great escape from the summer heat.
The Chamber has gotten the approval of the esteemed Kansas City Barbecue Society for what Fairplay hopes will be the first of many summer BBQ taste tests to come. They have lined up 20 competitors who will duke it out in the shadows of the Continental Divide. You'll also find other food vendors (sweet and savory), beer tents and soft drinks as well.
If you decide to make a weekend of it be sure to check in at the Mountain Comfort Bed and Breakfast for your digs. Ernie and Sandy will make you feel right at home.
