Got a problem with the city budget?  Just raise taxes, that will fix it right?

O wait, didn't they try that a while ago?  It seems that it's never enough.  I can remember when New York City didn't have an income tax or a sales tax.  That was sold to "FIX" the problem.  So if it was the grand fixer, why is John Liu,

who is running for Mayor of our beautiful city, advocating for an increase in income taxes so as to give city workers and extra raise?  Aren't they already getting a 3% raise yearly?

But let's put that aside for the time being.  Mr. Liu only wants to raise taxes on those making over $500,000 yearly.  Not to worry, we don't make that kind of money right?  OK, if that doesn't fix the problem will he lower the threshold  to those making over $250,000?  If that doesn't fix the problem will he lower it to those making over $100,000?

You get my point, right?  When does it stop?  If we just keep taxing, stealing the eggs that the goose lays, what will the goose do?

Hey, if someone kept taking your eggs, would you move your nest?

Would you fly off to a distant place so as to keep most if not all of your hard work?

There, I feel better, taxpayer comment welcome.

I am from Brooklyn originally, and I will not go back to NY.  The taxes are criminal.  Governments have to do two things.  Cut back on needless jobs, and projects - by trimming the fat.  And for the money they take in they need to spend it for its intended purpose.  An example, the tolls in NY our totally outrageous at $13 Verranzano Bridge is off the charts nationally, the Holland Tunnel is is disrepair since it was built by Robert Moses in hte 1930's.  It is no wonder why NY has lost several million in population in just the last few years. They have hit a breaking point which is counter productive to its intent.  So when you add up all the taxes you pay and then why own a home?  It seem the people living in an apartment get all the benefits, and the homeowner pays for all!   By they way I was in NY 2 days ago visiting family.
