Organize your home - especially your kitchen when trying to sell. One of the main selling points to a home is the kitchen and the storage and counter space that the kitchen has to offer. We have viewed many homes lately that would have gotten more attention from the buyer if only the kitchen had been somewhat organized. When the buyer can not see counter space and opening a cupboard or pantry results in items falling out - there is room for improvement.
Just following a couple of small steps to organize the kitchen would help the home show much better.
- Store small appliances (and some large ones that are not used often) in a cabinet or pantry area. This will show more of your counter space and make your pantry or cupboards seem to have more room for storage.
- Have a place for mail - just a basket on the counter or placed in a small drawer will keep it out of sight to show more counter space.
- Hide your sponges and dish soap in a container under the sink or in a decorative container on top of the sink or window sill.
- Stage the pantry by organizing cans and boxes on the shelf, not just a maze of items. This will allow the shelving to look larger.
- The dreaded Tupperware should be placed in drawers and not cabinets. Separating the lids in one drawer and the container in another will help them to not tumble out when the drawer is opened.
Just a few minutes organizing your kitchen will help sell your home. The space will appear cleaner, more organized and larger.
