Fire & Police Safety this Summer in Bronxville NY 10709

Police & Firefighters are always looking for ways to support safety in Westchester County towns like our Eastchester NY 10709

I don't know about everyone else driving around in this heat, but our crews and my family have noticed a bigger police presence in town.  Here's why, courtesy of a story by Zak Fiella in Eastchester's Daily Voice..the best!  

"Click it or Tick it" is a statewide initiative to get us to Buckly Up in New York, so our local police are doing their jobs.

Through this coming weekend and since May 20th, the Police Department has checkpoints set up and it's all about safety.  A dear friend of mine lost her handsome young husband when he was ejected from his BMW.  His rather new car had AIRBAGS that would have saved his face...his life.  He had swurved to avoid a teen driver after they ran a stop sign, hit some grass with late night dew on it and slammed into a tree...a seatbelt that night would have made this a miracle and not a nightmare story about my widowed friend. 

So, we're down from nearly 100 unbuckled drivers in recent years and are doing better in Westchester.  But, Fiella's reporting and my data search note that crash records show more unbuckled drivers and passengers at night.  What?!  The Eastchester Police Department continues to find drivers with their belts on at their evening hour stops...and, can we have another, "Duh?!!"

I'm all for the checkpoints and just fear that stupid people are breeding...God bless, but wow.  If you approach a police check, you may want to put the phone down with that unsent text, hang up if you don't have a blue tooth and make sure that you're clothed and buckled up  Not YOU, Activerain makers!  

However, we know that these checkpoints can strike fear in some hearts, the guilty and unaware people (please stay off the roads, if that's the case.) So, through this weekend, the month and throughout your lives, just buckle up Eastchester.

See you at Carvel's for a cone....because if this heatwave keeps up, it's time to break the diet!
