Downtown Denver One of the Most Surprising Real Estate Boom Cities

When it comes to the top 15 major metro downtown areas in the United States that are leading the real estate recovery Denver ranked high on the list. When new businesses are looking for that perfect city to relocate to, one thing that they look at is the available pool of college-educated workers in the area. As a result, many cities across the nation are competing for areas with numerous college-educated adults.

Lee Fisher, president of CEOs for Cities, a national, not-for-profit organization said, “The American population, contrary to popular opinion, is not very mobile, but there is one very significant exception: what we call ‘the young and the restless.’” College-educated adults between the ages of 25 and 34 are likely to relocate. This age demographic is looking to live in urban neighborhoods that have a lot to offer such as shopping and entertainment all within walking distance.

In 1989, Denver business and civic leaders started working to change and revamp the city with the assistance of $240 million in bonds to encourage more people to move to Lower Downtown Denver. Today LoDo is a trendy hood of over 100 restored buildings varying from restored Victorian warehouses to buildings that now house upscale shopping, fine dining, art galleries, and nightclubs. There are now plans to continue the revitalization efforts throughout the rest of downtown Denver. “We carefully evaluate what the future workforce is looking for and we incorporate those demands into what we are building,” commented Tami Door, chief executive of the Downtown Denver Partnership.

Residents of this area are looking to connect with neighbors and explore what their community has to offer. In relation to the rest of the country, Denver has seen faster growth as a city than other areas. On average, the population in Denver has grown 1.3% per year according to a report by Moody’s Economy Living.
