Hello, this is Aimee again, and I'm blogging on behalf of Kline May Realty and our family of agents.
I promised the other day that I would write a follow-up post to the Staycation Tuesday idea for the week. On Tuesday, I posted about the Shenandoah Heritage Market. Today's post is about another indoor farmers market in the area-- The Shops at Dayton Farmers Market.

A few miles past the Dayton Walmart on 42 South, sits this gem of a shopping center. No, it's not a typical shopping center. There's no ABC store, no Dollar General, no nail salon, and no fast food joint either. This is a home-grown, local shopping center featuring homemade jellies and jams, silk flowers, unique kitchenware, delicious breads, and more.
The Pretzel Shop, Knit Works, and Lone Pine Lighting. Books of Merit, Crafty Hands, and Crafty Hands Toyland. The Cheese Place, Country Chimes, and Warfel's Sweet Shoppe. That's not even all stores. There's 20 in all!

I mentioned delicious breads before. My favorite French toast is made from cinnamon sourdough bread that you can find at the Dayton Farmers Market. The luxurious cinnamon-swirls within the bread add so much flavor to the fluffy-on-the-inside, crispy-on-the-outside homemade French toast I whip together on special occasions. The pies and cakes you can find at the market are delicious too! Can you tell I have a sweet tooth?
We have entered wine and cheese season, too! So if you're looking for gourmet cheeses to pair with your local summers wines, make sure to check out The Cheese Place. Don't let the name fool you, though. According to --"a href= http://daytonfarmersmarket.com/the_cheese_place.htmltarget ="_blank"> The Cheese Place page on the Dayton Farmers Market website, They "have a vast array of products including, but not limited to the following: Beans, pastas of all shapes and colors, nuts, 23 different types of flours, local honey, a wall of herbs and spice, 14 different varieties of rice, popcorn, sugars in every color of the rainbow, not to mention our many types of cheeses."
Food isn't the only great thing at the market. There are toys, wind chimes, knick-knacks, kitchen utensils and appliances, books, hand-crafted gifts, yarn, knitting and crocheting accessories, antique lamps, jewelry, the list goes on and on.
Kline May Realty agent Russ Erikson, loves to go to the toy store: "We get a lot of toys for our grandkids there." Russ also mentioned the availability of local honey at the Dayton Farmers Market, "You can bring your own jug and get a bunch of honey."
Rebecca Funkhouser, the office manager at Kline May Realty, says "Going to The Shops at Dayton Farmers Market is like taking a step back in time." When I asked Rebecca what else she liked about the shops, "She said that it's a great place to go around canning season. They have a lot of nifty gadgets to help with canning."
So if you're in need of a jug of honey, if you're canning soon, or if you're just looking for something to do on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday from 9AM to 6PM, drive on down to The Shops at Dayton Farmers Market.
