Welcome to College Heights in State College, PA!
College Heights is one of the oldest neighborhoods in State College, PA. It features some wonderful homes built in the 1920's and 1930's as well as some 60's contemporaries and newer homes as well. One of the most appealing parts of the College Heights neighborhood is that it's deirectly across the street from Penn State University. Park Avenue in State College, PA separates the university property from the College Heights neighborhood. On the West side of North Atherton street the Penn State Golf Course is directly across from some of the most unique homes in College Heights. On the East side of North Atherton Street the university side features the Nittany Lion Inn.
Homes in the College Heights neighborhood can range from $150,000's all the way up to $750,000+. Some of the larger homes near or on the golf course can fetch close to $1 Million. The further away from the University and Golf Course you get the lower the prices go. These homes are located in the State College Borough and there are some student rental homes interspersed with owner occupied homes. For the most part students live in harmony with owners and generally help each other out.
College Heights is bordered on the east by the H. O. Smith Arboretum, ont he West by the Penn State Golf Courses, the south by the University itself, and on the North by the commercial area on Cherry Lane. This neighborhhod is very close to Radio Park Elementary School and the former College HEights School which now functions as the print shop for the State College School District. There are a few parks interspersed throughout College Heights as well. Most notably is Sunset Park which also borders the home of Penn State Football coach Joe Paterno.
College Heights is not only a great place to live but also a very fun place to wander the sidewalks and take in the history of the neighborhood as well.
