The short answer is because the typical home sold by a Realtor sold for about 43 percent more than the typical “For Sale by Owner” home. That’s according to the National Association of Realtors 2011 profile of home Buyers and Sellers.
It’s ironic that most homeowners chose the FSBO route to save money. But, in fact, those sellers would have walked away with more money had they simply identified and retained the services of a good, solid Realtor who would have done all the heavy lifting. In this day and age, when 85 percent of all home purchases begin with the Internet, a great Realtor will creating a targeted marketing campaign, which entails far more than posting a sign in your front yard.
The marketing campaigns along with the negotiating skills that Gina and I bring to the table are unparalleled. Sure, you might be able to sell your home without a Realtor but doing so will probably result in you leaving a pile of money on the table.
