Funky, funny little Bellefonte! With a population of 1193 and a land area of .18 square miles, it’s hard to imagine it as an arts, antiques, and “eclectica” hot spot, but it is. Situated a stone’s throw from the Delaware River between the northern edge of Wilmington, Delaware and the Pennsylvania State line, this incorporated town is a popular place for first time buyers as well as those who have lived there for generations.
A visit to Brandywine Boulevard found the Farmer’s Market in full swing last Saturday. Open 9-1 weekly until the end of September, the market features organic veggies from Highland Orchards and the CSA at Thornbury Farm in nearby Chester County. A local bakery and mushroom grower, as well as a restaurant also had tables.
