Bob, I was at a client's house this past Saturday and he had two of the most amazing photographs of eagles I have ever seen. I never get tired of seeing them. Glad to hear they've recovered so well.
They are beautiful creatures. Thank you for sharing the photo with all of us. I have seen a few in my travels and never take it for granted.
Bob you I must be about the same age.... hope I'm not insulting you...lol
Good to see so many Bald Eagles today, they even use to be seen in the Hill Country of Texas now just a few on the Highland Lakes nest there each year. I wans't aware they can live up to 30 years. Thanks
Hi Bob - I also remember when they were a rare sight. Now we see them quite often, and in numbers, and they're always worth stopping to watch - a truly magnificant bird (if you ignore some of their eating habits).
We enjoy a huge bald eagle population here in North Idaho. The buteos are an indicator species and it is so good to see that your Eagle population is coming back to life.
Have been to Alaska and have seen hundreds of Eagles on the beach savaging fish leftovers. Pretty cool site. About a month ago saw an Eagle here in Destin. Am told there is a pair nesting in the area. This is pretty cool.
Same out here near Seattle. A bald eagle sighting was quite rare. I believe that after they banned DDT, which made the eagle's egg shells too fragile to hatch, they imported eagles from Alaska and the rebound is in full force. I think that they are now much more plentiful than our majestic, golden eagles. I now see them all the time. I'll probably see one before I get five miles from home.
Michael in #8: Your comment gives me a great idea. The national bird should really be TWO national birds... depending on which political party is in power. If Democrats control the White House, the national bird could be the Bald Eagle, and if Republicans controlled the White House, it could, and should, be the Turkey. Sounds reasonable, doncha think?
Bob... I just love it when I stumble across one of the live "nest cams" that are set up to monitor the nests of a pair of bald eagles. I think that is so cool. Do you know of any that are operating right now?
Hi Bob . I enjoyed your blog on Bald Eagles I do remenber when they were rare to see ,but now I see then in Arizona , mostly over Pleasant lake just out of Phoenix .They give the sense of freedom that we all have here in the good old USA
Well Done Bob and good BLOG. We have been seeing many bald eagles here in the Pacific Northwest. It's wonderful to know so many people are excited to see the national birds healthy return to our skies.
Bob, they are magnificent creatures! It's beautiful to see them soaring the skies. We have many of them here in the Rim Country, and there is even a reservoir just for them! Thanks for sharing!
I am fortunate to live in an area where both Bald Eagles and Osprey have made a huge recovery. It's wonderful to see them out fishing almost every day on the river.
Bob, it's very VERY exciting to see these majestic birds up close. I didn't know about the DDT, but then, there were many bad things we put into our world at that time that we weren't privy to the downsides of...poorly spelled out (sorry), but you know what I mean.
I took this from my lake home last December. He was right out my back window and he'd been divebombing some inanimate object 3 times before he finally gave up and flew away!

Bob, it was kind of like whisper down the lane to get here. First through Kathy, then Lenn. I have watched about a dozen throughout the U.S. during the past 30 years and each time the sight is overwhelming.

There is nothing more beautiful than seeing a bald eagle Bob. I'm glad to know that they are alive and well.
