A Tax-Free NY

Real Estate Agent with Shahar Management

Tax-Free NYIn May Governor Cuomo introduced a game-changing plan -- Tax-Free NY -- that would revitalize our upstate economies by transforming our university centers into magnets for new businesses, start-ups and investment.

This innovative plan is drawing statewide support from business leaders (click here to view) and local officials (click here to view).

Additionally, newspapers across the state have praised the creative plan to boost the upstate economy:

  • "Cuomo's tax-free zone can create needed jobs here," said the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, calling it a "huge boost for upstate."
  • “Gov. Andrew Cuomo has come up with a creative and potentially game-changing partnership between the public and private sectors” to revitalize upstate New York’s ailing economy, said the New York Observer.
  • “It’s a smart plan that can bolster the economy while solving other problems and costing virtually nothing,” said The Buffalo News.
  • The Watertown Daily Times called the Governor’s Tax-Free NY plan a “winner.”
  • Newsday, “Andrew Cuomo’s tax free business plan is worth a try.”

Debbie, sounds like a bold plan, but then I feel that's what it takes to be successful.  I'm sure other areas will be watching the results.

Interesting for sure. I am sure though it is not without a cost to the local citizens who still pay local taxes. The jury is out as to how it is funded. Companies that move in do use resources and that does have a cost. It may work but i am curious if it will get passed.

Howdy and evening Debra

Debra my friend, it sounds like NY's Governor Cuomo has a good plan to help the State. I've been seeing a lot about it on TV here.

Have a good one

Would love to see this bill bring out lots of folks that would not have done anything unless an incentive like this came along. Hopefully it accomplishes all that is intended.
