Mango Season in Pinecrest

Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker - Pinecrest (Miami) Broker 3058544

Our sweet delicious juicy mangoes are ready.  As I was previewing properties in Pinecrest this week I drove by seven mango stands in front of private homes; and it was a weekday.  Folks put the mangoes on tables or in wagons for you to pick the ones you like, some even put out bags for you to put them in.  And if no one is at Mangoes in Pinecrestthe stand when you get there you will find a container to leave your money in. Prices are all over the place, I saw a stand selling big beautiful mangoes for 40 cents each and then I saw a lady selling hers’ for $1.50 each – she must have some really special mangoes!

Did you know that there are several hundred varieties of mangos?  My favorite locally grown varieties are the Haden and Tommy Atkin.  I love mango milkshakes, like the ones they make in the Latin restaurants.  For me the smell and taste of a ripe juicy mango is heavenly, and eating that ripe juicy mango at the beach .....oh my!

This week-end should be a great time to drive through Pinecrest to buy some locally grown mangoes – another great reason  to live in Pinecrest!

Mangos are wonderful.  They are such a delcious treat and how nice to have them in your backyard.  We have a cooler climate so they do fare well here.  JEALOUS!!  (We have berrys here!)

Don't for get the warning Mango are one of the fruits that some people are very allergic too. One customer was excited when he bought a home here in South Florida only to find out both he and his wife were very allergic to then. He had to cut down a great tree in his back yard.  I look forward to the season for the fresh fruit picked from the tree.

I had heard that you can substitute mangoes for peaches in recipes.  Well today I substituted mangoes for peaches in my peach cobbler recipe – it was great!  Everyone love it.
