An Addition to my Pottery Collection from the Lockbridge Pottery’s Spring Show
I attended the Lockbridge Pottery’s Spring Show on Friday, May 31, 2013 and as usual I bought a piece of pottery.
"This stoneware batter bowl (right) is thrown on the wheel and has a trimmed foot," says Jeff Diehl, the potter. "It has a stainless steel wall hanger in the foot and a pulled handle for ease of use while mixing. The decoration is a trailed-cobalt slip with influences from the Sung Dynasty based on their peony design applied with a technique I learned during my apprenticeship in Germany. It is fired in the reduction kiln to 2350 degrees here at Lockbridge Pottery and has an opaque glaze based on the Leach Pottery (Cornwall, England) standard-ware glaze."
Check out some of Jeff's pottery on display for the spring show:
Jeff's shows are always fun to attend, and his wife, Donna, (pictured below far right) always prepares delicious trays of food for all attendees to enjoy. There were about 50 people at the show on Friday evening buying pottery and keeping the staff busy wrapping the sold items.
The next Lockbridge Pottery show will be on June 1, 2013, from 11 am to 4 pm, in Meadow Bridge, WV...... hope to see you there!
