This is one thing I absolutely recommend to ALL of my Charlotte home buyers - when considering areas or neighborhoods, do a test commute!
Mileage, even general proximity many times aren't the most accurate gauges for what your commute will realistically be if you choose to live there.
By doing a test commute, you can get a pretty good idea of what you'd be driving each day and how long it would generally take.
It's not something I can do for you, and I can't decide what is/isn't acceptable on your commute time. That's why I think it's so important to make this part of your home search process. After all, you'll be the one doing the commute so you should know what you're getting into beforehand.
After a test commute, either an area/neighborhood stays on the list or it doesn't....and you can focus on the most ideal locations for you!
One other consideration is whether public transit would be an option. Whether it's the South Blvd Light Rail line, or any of the bus lines in the city (there are lots of park and ride lots all over too!) that may be something to consider as well.
Your Charlotte home search involves lots of different factors - don't forget to do a test commute drive as part of your search process.
