Buffalo's Alternative to Demolition

There are many abandoned buildings in the Buffalo Niagara region of Western New York.  In Buffalo alone there is an estimated 5,000-10,000 abandoned homes. These abandoned Buffalo homes are a problem, especially when they are neglected.   Stories like Dirty Deeds that was published in January in BusinessWeek focus on a lot of the negatives.

But it isn't as bad as the media would like to report.  There is a strong movement here in WNY to fix the situation with the city of Buffalo's Mayor's AntiFlipping Task Force and grass roots organizations leading the way.

Someone has to control the vultures. I'ts too bad we have people that take advantage of the situation and makes it more difficult for investors that really want to rehab a property and try to make a profit.

I saw a presentation recently by the Antiflipping task force -- there is good flipping and bad flipping.   They are trying to get rid of the bad...   Unfortunately there are suckers born every day and they are easy targets.    That is why they are trying to get the word out about it.   Those that want to invest there are hudreds of great opportunities here in WNY but you have to be dedicated and have a good team which includes a Realtor, Property Manager, Contractors and such.   Without them, trying to manage long distance is a nightmare.

Matt -- what is more difficult is the fact that most lenders here will not deal with loans under $50k so creative financing has become an artform here!
