It's never too late to start going "Green"

I find it amazing how these simple, everyday things are still important for caring for the planet. It’s also a good reminder that “going green” really isn’t all that hard. To me, being intentionally eco-friendly has much more to do with celebrating a wonderful planet created by a power much greater than all of us.

The thing I absolutely love most about eco-friendly green alternatives in around the house is that 9 out of 10 times, they are the more frugal option. And hey! Who doesn't wanna save money these days right !? There are many small steps we can all take to do things in our homes and play a small part in order to reduce landfill waste, have  cleaner air and preserve the natural landscape that has been gifted to us and also plays an important role in the circle of life.

A great way to start would be to get your kids involved. When they get it, it’ll be second nature to them when they’re adults—and that much easier to pass it down to their children. For example, if you recycle lots of aluminum cans, conserve space by crushing them. Make it  fun, turn it into a game. I would like to share the following link with everyone on some tips for a greener home. Let me know if you have used these tips and how they've helped you. If you have any other tips to share that I missed. please feel free to share them.

1)    Plant a herb garden.

2)      Switch all your light bulbs to CFLs (or at least switch a few).

3)      Switch one appliance to an energy efficient model (look for the “Energy star” label).

4)      Stop using disposable bags. Order some reusable bags.

5)       Buy an inexpensive reusable water bottle, and stop buying plastic disposable bottles.

6)       Wash laundry in cold water instead of hot.

7)      Turn off lights when you leave the room.

8)      Don’t turn on lights at all for as long as you can—open your curtains and enjoy natural light.

9)      Drive the speed limit, and combine all your errands for the week in one trip if possible.

10)   Better yet, walk or ride a bike to your errands that are two miles or closer.

11)   Support your local economy and shop.

12)   Turn off your computer completely at night.

13)   Research whether you can sign up for green power from your utility company.
