If you are planning to purchase Lake Minnetonka lakeshore properties, it is important to understand what kind of lakeshore and operating docks that are connected to the property you are interested in.
Docks in the City of Mound. There are several docks found in the city: there’s the site on Commons lakeshore property, Lost Lake Slips for residents of Caribou Coffee and other transient docks maintained, operated and monitored by the City. However, if you are about to purchase Lake Minnetonka lakeshore properties, you should be aware of the City's Dock Program described on the next paragraphs.
The City of Mound Dock Program. Did you know that the City of Mound operates one of the largest shared dock programs in the state? There are 627 boats permitted by it on an annual basis, with approximately 144 dock sites and 100 slip sites where the boats are stationed. This program is formulated to make sure that Mound residents who don't have properties facing along the lake can still access and enjoy the benefits Lake Minnetonka has to offer.
The dock types offered by this program are the docks that allow others to access and walk directly across or next your Lake Minnetonka property. In some cases you may get some sitting docks right on your property where other people can pass through your property to get to the dock. As a future homeowner, it is important for you to know if the dock situated near or on your lakeshore property is a shared dock such as the one described.
It is really good to check with the city no matter where or when you are purchasing your Lake Minnetonka lakeshore properties. While it is a wonderful gift and opportunity for the residents of the City of Mound to have that kind of program available, it's just something you want to know before buying.
