My First Blog

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner

Here's my first blog in Active Rain. From what I heard, blogging is an effective way to get people to read about what you are doing and how you are progressing. I'd like to think about blogging as a way to track my progress. So here it goes...

A little background on me. I've had a real estate license since 1997 but I was working in a hotel as an operations manager. I tried to practice at that time, working part time in real estate, but didn't get anywhere. I know, you're all saying I should have done something, but my mind and heart wasn't there. I need an income to live and working at the hotel seemed easy at that time. During the hotel work, I managed to get my MBA, which was quite a task. One thing I learned from working int he hotel business is that customers make or break your business. This is number one rule in my books. Without the customers, there is no income.

After hotels, I moved on to insurance. I wanted to understand more about insurance and how insurance works. I hooked up with a local agent and there was one thing that came to my mind, customer service. The agent had a book of business, a relational book of business. No one could take this away. Of course, there were people out there looking for lower premiums, but service is what kept his books strong.

As I grow professionally, there's 2 things I must keep in mind, Customer and Service. Without customers (or clients) business doesn't happen. Without service, business cannot sustain. My motto, once you have a customer, you keep them by servicing them the best you can.

Johnny,

Great start by posting your first blog.  Let me encourage you to be more forward and get your name out there.  Start by making your profile more verbose.  Add your picture, your profile should describe yourself more and tell a story of who Johnny is.  Getting your name out to everyone you come in contact with is crucial in this business and then maintaining that contact.

You've made the decision to start, now push to make all your marketing efforts build credibility.  You've got the knowledge and the potential to go far.  There are tons of profiles and blogs on this site to give you ideas to enhance your face in real estate.

I wish you well.
