That's The Worst Fish Picture I've Ever Seen...Fishing Western Colorado

That's The Worst Fish Picture I've Ever Seen...Fishing Western Colorado. Ouch that hurts. Normally I take pretty decent pictures, but not this time. The fishing was great today, so I guess my camera skills were a bit off. OK...here's the picture in question. The one my husband is complaining about.

That's The Worst Fish Picture I've Ever Seen...Fishing Western ColoradoThis is a Snake River Fine Spot Cutthroat Trout. It was caught at Pa-Co-Chu-Puk between Ridgway and Montrose, Colorado. This one is 20 inches long and that's great for this type of trout. My husband out fished me today and the credit for this catch goes to him.

The fisherman upstream came over to help Dan net it. So we had three people standing over the fish. After the long hard fight, we were all eager to get the fish back to the water, and not make it pose for a picture.

That's The Worst Fish Picture I've Ever Seen...Fishing Western Colorado

Pa-Co-Chu-Puk is part of Ridgway Colorado State Park.

This guy was also fishing. This is a blue heron, and he stopped right by us because the fishing was so good, and he wanted a piece of the action. Even though this stretch of river is catch and release, I have a feeling he wasn't going to play by the rules. He was fishing for dinner.

The stretch of Uncompahgre River below the Ridgway Reservoir dam is great fishing. If fishing is on your list of things to do on your Western Colorado trip, this place needs to be on your list.

I have to admit this isn't the best fish picture I've taken. The fish is upside down, the lighting is bad and almost half of the fish is in the shadows. You can't see how many fine spots there are on this fish. It's too bad for Dan. This was a nice catch. That just means we'll have to go back and try again.  By the way...the fishing for Rainbow Trout was excellent, too. The smaller ones were so pretty they were almost lavender in color.

I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 22 years. I love this area and all it has to offer, and I enjoy sharing what I know about my home. As a real estate broker, I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for Montrose County, or Delta County, Colorado...please give me a call.

Well it was Father's Day so you had to let him get the big fish. Next time you will show him. The blue heron is stunning though.

Hi, Debbie...even though the fish picture was bad, that heron shot was pretty good. Mother Nature set that one up for me.

Hey, Nick...you got that right. If it was my catch, I would have been on it.

Hi, Jennifer....It was a great day of fishing. That heron shot is almost priceless. He settled in so close to us. It was amazing.

Thanks for taking us along on your fishing trip. It is neat to see that the two of you aren't competitive.

Make it a great week!

You are one lucky lady.

The photo is spectacular.  As one who has caught many cutthroats, neither the light nor the angle could spoil it.

Put that prize on the grill and enjoy that wonderful red meat.

I sure miss Yellowstone.

Thanks, Roger...that bird picture made up for the bad fish picture.

Hi, Joe...I'm grinning at the thought of the competition. I usually win. HA...not this time, but that's OK.

Hi, Juli...I agree that the bird picture is a keeper.

Oh, Lenn...I didn't know you were a fisherman(woman) at heart. I don't care about being politically correct. I wish they had gotten our Colorado Native Cutthroat Trout going on this stretch of water, but no such luck. That species is almost on the endangered list. This is a catch and release stretch, and that's good and why the fish are so big.
