Old school agents won't keep up

Mis-Information in the real estate marketplace.

Just talked with a real estate agent who covers the Innisfil area about the growth of the for sale by owner listings.  It seems that if you do the "I hear nothing, see nothing" approach then yes, the fsbo market would not even look like competition to the mls.  Many agents view people who list on for sale by owner sites as "mis-informed" on how to sell. That fsbo's really do not understand how to sell, or how to establish a market price or qualify a potential buyer. And that is my point, old school agents ( people who view fsbo's as a non-entity when compared to the real professionally trained agents) really do not understand the biggest change to the real estate market since the introduction of the internet. I have heard countless agents put down fizbos saying that they really don't do or sell much when compared to the mls.  

Well times change. With for sale by owner listings in the Barrie / Orillia and Georgian Bay areas growing by 80% last year and the mls by 8%..which is the one to watch?  Which is the one to learn and study from with a "new young set of eyes"?

I used to look at the classified sections of the newspapers on weekends to find real estate...now I look on the internet. Need I say more...
