It is my opinion that the paper trail will never go away. I do think it is safe to say that in the future, the archiving needs will be a little bit different. For example, today when contracts are signed, they must be archived for a period of time. I believe that in the future you will find that this archival is done through scans documents that are said about computers and not in filing cabinets.
But at the end of the day, they're still going to be a mountain of paperwork for all of us to overcome.
