We took 3 days to camp at the KOA in St. Mary. What an ideal location! 5 min. to the east entrance of the park. 30 min to Many Glacier - my all time favorite part of the park. 2 min from restaurants and conveniences in St. Mary itself. Very close to Babb and the Canadian border as well. Many Glacier Lodge had just opened for the season. What an amazing renovation of the historic dining room! When we stayed there a few years ago, it was the ugly 1960's reno that we experienced. Now it is like it was meant to be historically. Take a photo tour here http://www.glacierparkinc.com/many_glacier_hotel.php you might think you are in Switzerland!
Hot weather in the valley recently. All the growing things in the landscape are taking off. The occasional rain has kept heavy watering at bay. Our valley averages 16" of rain a year so we are used to seeing irrigation in farm fields and most people use sprinkler systems in yards of any size at all.
Here is a photo of our camp site at St. Mary KOA. Going to the Sun Road through the park opened to Logans pass from the east side this last weekend, oodles of snow up there. Web cams link here http://www.nps.gov/glac/photosmultimedia/webcams.htm
