Ok – if you are close to my age, you remember playing Pong on your Atari – right? We thought that was the greatest. Now, I look at my son playing his PS3 and am just amazed at how far video games and systems have come. If video games are something that interests you or if you would like to show your children what video games used to look like when we were their age, there is just the event for you!
The Phoenix Art Museum is hosting The Art of Video Games exhibit from June 16th until September 29th. This exhibit is organized by the Smithsonian American Art Museum and lets you explore the 80 games and 20 gaming systems that have evolved over the 40 years of video games. There is a bonus – live player participation! The times vary during the day, as does admission ($6.00 to $15.00). The Phoenix Art Museum is located at 1625 N Central Avenue Phoenix AZ 85004. For more information on times, please call 602.257.1222.
Why not take some time and hang out in downtown Phoenix while you are there. Take a look at the architecture – both new and old – of the many buildings and homes surrounding the Phoenix Art Museum. Take some time out to grab a bite at one of the local eateries too. Discover the beauty of the downtown area. You may want to make this a driving tour at this time of year so that you and your family stay cool from the heat.
