Want to Learn How to Prospect - Learn from a Dog

It just dawned on me that my little guy in a dog suit is the best darn prospector that I've ever seen!  After arriving home today I immediately let Barney out to do his business and I noticed he has a very specific job - prospecting. It's adorable watching him run around like a crazed yet very happy dog. Makes me smile every single time. But today while watching him- it clicked in my head - OMG - he's the best prospecting teacher any salesperson could hope to follow.

Anna Banana Kruchten Phoenix Real EstateBarney goes out every single day, several times a day and tries his best to RUSTLE up some doggie friends. He runs to one side of the yard and barks and then excitedly LEAPS over a hedge and barks more and then he DODGES around the spa and barks some more. He knows where the other dogs live and he makes darn sure that his buddies know he's out and about! Plus he's real good at LISTENING to signals that somebody else in the neighborhood is talking to him.  This PATTERN goes on and on, day after day, regardless of how many times he goes outside every day. He's  always FOCUSED

Lately because it's hot here in Phoenix he hasn't had much success on finding his buddies outside.  Does that stop him from doing his 'prospecting thing' day after day?  Not one tiny bit! He's just as excited to do his job as ever.

BARK! BARK! BARK! I AM HERE!

Now I could go on and on about various prospecting methods but why?  It's pretty clear to me dogs get prospecting!  They go out excited and certain that somebody is going to talk to them. They expect it!  When they don't get results they don't sulk and tell themselves I don't think I'm going out tonight and I'm sure not going out tomorrow - poor me. Not a chance - Dogs are forever optimistic and true believers that the next dog or treat is around the corner. They simply believe and know it.

What a lucky dog I am & I love my job - absolutely!  His attitude BARKS fun, spunk, creativity and  always wanting to sniff out the next big  friend or treat. Wow! And when he does find or receive a treat he savors it with pure delight - and then - Asks for more!

Life is Good - Real Good!

So if you need a little help with prospecting methods come on over and hang around Mr Barney. I'm quite certain if you follow his prospecting rules you'll be as successful as Barney. He's a master prospector!

Barney's 8 Prospecting Rules to Become a Master Prospector

1 Have a Enthusiastic Attitude

2 Always Expect that Good Things are coming your way

3 Make as many connections as possible day in and day out

4 Be creative and sniff out future possibilities

5 Work Smart, know your territory and be open to new leads

6 Listen for signals and follow up

7 Stay focused on what's important

8 Have as much fun as possible doing your job every day

Hi! Anna,

Great, fun post!  If that's Barney in the picture, it is no wonder he is king of his turf and the neighborhood.  He certainly has Bananatude!!

Cute post & very true. My dog looks for all her buddies all day, every day no matter what.  Never knew she was 'prospecting'.

Too cute and so true and relevant. Attitude spurs action when you plan your time to prospect your market and enjoy your activity. Eventually your activity becomes a habit regardless of your circumstances.

Instant reblog with this caption ....The only thing missing is a photo of a Golden Retriever. I like the eternal optimism part of this post and the never, never, never give up message. I like the mark your territory and the enthusiasm aspect it conveys. TheRE are things you can learn from your PUP every day and that includes Real Estate Prospecting. Great concepts!

Anna, I don't know how I missed this but it is wonderful. We could learn a lot from Barbey and the dogs that are continually optimistic. Great post.
