We still live in a world where people will take advantage of your lack of knowledge. As a first time home buyer or even a repeat buyer, don't be caught unarmed when trying to purchase a home. Real estate can be complicated when you're dealing with a lot of language and paper work and a variety of sellers and processes. It is important that you have someone to help you get through the process with confidence and help protect your interests at the same time.

Consult with a Realtor before you take the risk of entering the real estate process on your own. It doesn't mean that you can't be successful, but as an experienced Realtor, I know the potential pitfalls of buyers who refuse to seek the assistance of a Realtor. Someone recently shared a story with me about a buyer who wanted to purchase a condo, but the seller said that he could not use a realtor. BLANK STARE! This is a matter of a seller who does not want to pay a fee for the use of a Realtor. Do you really want to work with a seller who tries to undermine your right because of their personal desire for gain? There could also be other reasons why this seller doesn't want a real estate agent in the picture. Is the seller concerned that an agent will discover something questionable about the property or the way the process is being handled?
