The 95126 zip code neighborhood is a unique area with a diverse offering of communities. Known often for the large, classic mansions, you also have many small bungalows, condos and townhouses as well as apartments and multi-unit dwellings. The zip code area is primarily the west side of Downtown San Jose and there is also a sliver that goes into the Campbell and Willow Glen border. One well maintained and mature development on this sliver is the Wilshire Park Townhouse Complex.
Are you looking for a nice convenient central location? The Wilshire Park Townhouse Complex is a great option. It sits in a neighborhood area bordering Leigh Avenue, Southwest Expressway, Fruitdale Avenue, Meridian Avenue. and Stokes Avenue. A short drive to downtown, it is an amazingly quiet neighborhood surrounded mostly by well maintained townhouses and condos and Mediterranean tiled roof homes. It has easy access to the 280, 87, 85, and 17/880 freeways and is close to many popular venues, including Santana Row, Valley Fair Mall, HP Pavilion, Downtowns San Jose, Willow Glen AND Campbell, The Pruneyard, and Westgate Mall, as well as the San Jose State University and Santa Clara University. What a great location for entertainers!
Getting back to the complex, Wilshire Park Townhouses are a perfect mix of townhouses and greenbelt, nestled amidst mature redwoods, well maintained landscaping and space, which gives you an open feeling and not cramped, wall to wall, like many condo complexes. Space wise, the complex is rather large, however it boasts only 79 total units, small by today's building standards. Mostly two story units, there is a sprinkling of single story units too. Generally speaking, there are two and three bedroom models. The units are built in a efficient style where you can drive into your garage, walk through your private patio yard and then go into your own townhouse unit.
As an older complex, many of the units have been remodeled and updated. As you consider your options, you may find units in original condition as well as those with loads of modern upgrades and amenities. As I mentioned, I have been a broker and lender here in Silicon Valley for the past 26 years, not a contractor, however they are generally build well, with wooded siding, composition shingle roofs, vaulted ceilings and fireplaces. Of course, I always recommend a home inspection from a professional to be sure you are comfortable with the true condition! Like many condo complexes, you can remodel, though you may need to talk to the homeowner's association for any significant renovations. There are wonderful two car garages here which is a major bonus for most residents living here in the Rosegarden/Willow Glen border and there is a good amount of parking, not great, but good in this well maintained complex. If you are a sun worshiper, you will like the fact that Wilshire Park also boasts a wonderful pool and clubhouse with plenty of sunshine for party rentals or cooling off and working on your tan! Also, everyone gets a private patio yard so you have some private outdoor space to relax or entertain in too. And lastly, the homeowner association dues are incredibly low compared to others so factor that as you consider your options.

The 95126 neighborhood area really offers tremendous benefits to the many residents who live here. The outdoor enthusiasts will like this as it is a nice and peaceful place to walk or run in. You are adjacent to the Los Gatos Creek and the trails are wonderful for walkers, runners, strollers, cyclists, dogs, and you can even wet some flies and fish down by the perk ponds. This trail will take you all the way to Downtown Los Gatos and the Lexington Reservoir if you are particularly healthy and ambitious! The complex is close to many fine and affordable dining experiences that will particularly excite the foodies and entertainers. Supermarkets include Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and Safeways, and there are many of the normal services that you'd expect to find. There are plenty of public transportation with the light rail station a couple minutes walk, as well as several bus lines. A charming small park is just across the street in St. Elizabeth Park, which will be particularly attractive to those with young children. The schools are close and there are places of worship within walking distance too.
