If your selling your house clean it up!
It seems like simple common sense but as real estate agents that have worked in the business for years now, we are still surprised almost daily by some homeowners that fail to understand that their homes would sell faster and for a higher sales price if they would simply clean the place up. Lets be clear here, I am not talking about repairs here, minor or major.
The type of clean up I mean is simple doing the dishes and clearing the kitchen counters. Pick up children's toys and up them away. Don't leave dirty clothes on the floor. And doing some simple everyday lawn care and mowing can make the outside of a house that much more desirable.
I know people's lives can get busy and hectic, but this extra effort can really help your home sell and garner a higher sales price. Take a weekend for a clean sweep of the house, and ask your realtor to give you ample notice before buyers come to view the property so you can tidy up.
